About the Author

When you speak about what you are, it´s a culmination of what you have done or what you are doing. Can a single act or acts really define a person? We as a society like to think so. Putting people into boxes and keeping them there is what the human psyche likes to do. Then there defined, explained, figured out, put into a pattern of events that describe who you are. Identification, we all have a number for the slot were thrown into, and that´s it. The little box called whatever and that´s you. I kept jumping out of the box into another one, so that I´m not really sure how to define myself, let alone how others see me. Be careful what you pretend to be, because in the end we are what we pretend to be. Well I guess I´m a pretender, right now I´m pretending to be a writer. In a month or so when Shipping gets underway on the Great Lakes I´ll be pretending to be a Merchant Seaman. When the fall gives rise to winter and Shipping on the Lakes wanes, I´ll be pretending to write a sequel to this book. The Great Lakes turn into an icy tundra and I fall into introspection and imagination with snowflakes and coffee. But hey don´t tell anyone, I really don´t want to be labeled as a Michigander, I´m still working on the first one at being a human being.
