About the Book

The three love stories in this volume of “Penny’s Diner Love Stories” are:

• A Brother’s Love - Losing both parents at an early age, Red Taylor is forced to raise his younger brother and take over the family farm.  Now in his late twenties, Red has a new dream and wants to make some changes.  When Olivia Patterson moves to town after ending a difficult relationship and takes a job as a waitress at Penny’s Diner, Red decides it’s time to build his new life with Olivia.  However, his jealous younger brother, Jimmy, gets a job as a cook at Penny’s and decides to sabotage the relationship.

• A Return to Love - Robert O’Grady comes out of retirement and becomes the day manager for Penny’s Diner, loving the social activity it brings.  What he doesn’t expect is to meet and fall for Dora Thresher, a woman his age who comes to town to help her sister recuperate after surgery.  Robert has his hands full trying to convince this fireball to give love a chance, since her sister’s deceased husband was Dora’s “first and only true love” and she retains bitter feelings toward her sister, the man’s cousin who came between them, and about love itself.  But Robert is not a man who gives up easily, and Dora is in for some surprises of her own as she faces what she left behind years ago.

• A Safe Haven - Claris Pemberton escapes in the middle of the night, driving as far as she can to get away from a dangerous man, and ends up at Penny’s Diner.  Staying the night at the hotel across the street, Claris returns to Penny’s for a quick breakfast and discovers Philip Barnett, a man 15 years her senior, sitting at her table who wants her to stay and give him and the town a try.  Claris must hide out from the con man who is on her heels, so she remains for a couple of weeks to come up with a safe plan.  As she does so, she begins to feel a new life can really work with Philip, who makes her feel safe and loved.  Philip sets her up as an assistant in the company as his son, Chad’s, administrative assistant.  Claris finds a safe haven at Penny’s, and an ally with Philip, but Chad is another story.  He discourages his father’s new relationship and is poking his nose into her past at the worst possible time.

About the Author

I am a full-time writer with a degree in Communications, am happily married, and have two cats who remain faithfully nearby as I create stories at the computer. After my husband named a chain of diners after me, I returned the romantic gesture by writing fictional love stories that center around the diners. When I am not writing, I enjoy playing the piano, volunteer pursuits, getting out in nature, and keeping in close touch with my wonderful family.
