About the Book

In the city of Lockside New York Jack Sullivan holds court daily across the black marble bar top in his basement barroom, a rathskeller he has named Stand and Deliver.   The phrase Last Call not only refers to the verbal notice given by bartenders offering one last chance for a cold one but in this case it also indicates the stories hero, Jack Sullivan's final chance to go on living.   Jack's a boozer par-excellence. He's also hell bent towards self destruction and coming very close to losing his sole supporter, Terri-who for her part struggles against the advice of friends to stay with Jack, recognizing in the man some well buried quality that if she can shine it up will mean a life of happiness for them both.   Jack meanwhile in real danger from his over indulgence of alcohol is being stalked by a maniac. Jack during one of his frequent forays with a woman he had no business keeping time with has caused a crazy man to become even crazier and to become a stalker bent on killing the man he believes is responsible for the loss of his lover.  Oddly it's all a big mistake as Jack was observed by the stalker with someone other than the crazies real mate.    The conclusion twists and spins as one threat replaces another and as Terri races towards the basement barroom in an attempt to beat Jack's killer to him.
