About the Book

Born in poverty, the author relates how he and his brothers, and especially their mother, struggled to raise themselves to a better life. He relates the sad, often wrenching lives his brothers led. His first marriage was unhappy even though it produced three wonderful sons whose story and accomplishments are reviewed. His second marriage brought happiness and fulfillment. His divorce and single existence came about at the time of the Sexual Revolution, and his amazing experiences are detailed. The author is an optometrist and recalls some particularly interesting patients seen in his 50 years of practice. He also relates some of the surprising things he found when, after selling his practice, he worked part time in other doctors’ offices. An ordinary life, but with some surprising twists.

About the Author

Ralph Cogan moved to Los Angeles from Buffalo, New York at age nine. He took his pre-optometry at U.S.C., and graduated from Los Angeles College of Optometry in 1947.
