Jason has nightmares about a strange and barbaric world, then wakens on Praesepe cast in the role of protector to a beautiful Princess in her battle with her evil and sadistic brother.  A sweeping sage of greed, cruelty and deception on a barbaric planet in deep space.

Jason has to face many dangers to keep Princess Charni safe as her brother is determined that she will be the human sacrifice that will bring the Evil Ones to Praesepe, ensuring that he will become Lord and Master of his planet.

Jason is equally determined that Khuramani will not succeed - and pits the magical powers of Sento's amulet and the Axe of Thoran against the magic of Khuramani's wizard Shartan and the powers of Evil
