About the Book
A radical right-wing group is bent on taking over America and implementing a theocracy. The inner circle of this organization call themselves The Apostles. While covering a tent revival meeting in a small New England town, Joe Salvatore, a local reporter, inadvertently discovers a document that tips him off about The Apostles and their grand scheme. Salvatore tries to derail the group, but finds himself thwarted at every turn.
Ultimately, The Apostles succeed, but only temporarily. Meanwhile, America is declared a Christian nation, and basic civil rights are abolished, abortion becomes punishable by death, gays and lesbians are forced to register, and people who spread AIDS receive capital punishment. Salvatore eventually finds the key to bring them down, but not before several freedom fighters lose their lives in the struggle.
