About the Book

Everett Pick is a high school teacher nearing retirement when he's falsely accused of child molestation. To escape sure conviction, he flees across the American Midwest to the Badlands and the Black Hills. Ev becomes the Job of the Nineties, but that biblical figure had it easy compared to Everett Pick. Job only had to deal with God's wrath. Ev Pick is pursued by New Age nuts, militia extremists, media leeches, the FBI, the sheriff, a psychopathic computer genius, his girlfriend and, worst of all, his ex-wife whose well-meaning efforts to bring peace and understanding to the world end up doing exactly the opposite. Ev has to handle all of these troubles while, at the same time, he tries to prevent the pregnant wife of his worst enemy from committing suicide.  In the end, some very, very big heads roll, and Everett Pick is left to pick up the pieces. Everett Pick is a comic tragedy set in the strangest place on earth,America in the early 1990s.

Steven Fisher is a novelist, short story writer, satirist and author/artist of "Extremely Askew", a cartoon series. His friends claim that the title of the series sums him up perfectly.
