About the Book

This little book takes a look at the profound philosophy-of-life that is Yoga.  In this belief system there are some ideas and concepts that could help all of humanity to get at the very root of our problems. The author believes that what society needs is a new perspective as to how we look at these dilemmas. This book looks at the ideas from Eastern philosophy with the hope that we can use their wise concepts in order to help us all solve our present day situations.  They have some interesting views that the author believes are worthy of deep thought and contemplation and this is one reason why this book was written.  If you happen to find this ancient philosophy-of-life interesting and intriguing please check it out.

Wisdom was in abundance, revered and respected in the ancient societies of both Greece and India.  It seems that there is a lack of such wisdom existing in the world today.  Why is that?  Where did wisdom go?  In order to find an answer to these as well as other questions the author began a personal search for the origin and source of ‘all’ wisdom.  This book is a direct result of that search and was written to help us all re-discover that which seems to have been lost.  By hearing, reading and contemplating the ideas and concepts of the ancient Sages and Mystics perhaps we can, hopefully, incorporate this ‘ancient wisdom’ into our modern-day lives.  This could go a long way in helping us all solve the modern-day dilemmas in which we find ourselves.

What the author has attempted to do is to paint a picture about a profound philosophy-of-life that was developed many thousands of years ago in Eurasia and was brought to both Greece and India where it merged into the philosophies that were already in place at these locations.  We will use the mystical ideas of the ancient Sages and Mystics along with the thoughts and theories of modern-day scientists in order to help us understand these subtle and profound truths. The author has tried to weave these ideas together in order to create a unique tapestry that includes a different way of looking at the problems and dilemmas of our present lives from a perspective of wisdom and knowledge.  This point-of-view the author calls the metaphysical philosophy of Yoga.

Here in the West we are generally acquainted with only one type of Yoga, i.e., Hatha Yoga, which is primarily the physical movement aspect of the six different types of Yoga.  The author, in his book, is focusing on a philosophical and intellectual understanding of the mystical aspects of Yoga.  Yoga actually means union.  In this case it is the union or ‘yoking together’ of the individual self with, or into, the Universal Self. This merging together of these two selves or souls is a ‘mystical union’.  Here the author gives some examples, including his own personal experiences, of this ‘mystical union’.

We will give some direct quotes from some of the World’s oldest scriptures, and tell some inspiring stories along with some contemplations that are, in some cases, worthy of pondering for an entire lifetime.

One purpose in writing this book is to plant a “seed” of wisdom in the hope that this seed will grow into a tree of knowledge that will benefit all of humankind.  If just one person can benefit from what the author has offered here in this little book then I feel that my labors have been justified.  The author believes that there is profound truth existing within us and all that we have to do is to go deep within our own selves and discover that which has been hidden. It is there, awaiting.
