About the Book

Detective Mike Granger of the L.A.P.D. is always one step behind his dream.  Even though his desires are simple, fate seems to work against him.

Mike meets Carlotta Sanchez after she is raped and brutally beaten.  It is his job to find out who committed this heinous crime.  He suspects her married lover, Jonathan Page, is somehow involved.  But can he prove it?  Could Mike count on his partner, Bob Anderson, to back him up or would he find him on the other side of the law?  Bob’s love for a stripper named Lisa Cox leads him over the edge into a tangled web of lies, money, and drugs.  He has his own dreams of the future and how he plans to achieve them goes against everything Mike stands for.

During Mike’s investigation he meets Linda Stevens and finds himself immediately attracted to her.  He hasn’t felt this way since his first and only true love fell victim to a tragic accident years before.  Could Linda be the woman of his dreams or will her haunted past keep them apart?

Mike’s beliefs are tested as he is forced to question his own actions as well as those of the entire police force that he has served with for so many years.  While testifying in a highly publicized case, will he lie under oath to protect himself or will he tell the truth and suffer the consequences that it brings?  Follow Mike on his journey into a world of murder, intrigue, and deception as he comes face to face with his final destination.

About the Author

Paul Foley was born in Delaware where he resides with his wife, Barbara. He is currently employed as a water well driller. “A Slice of Heaven” is his first novel, which he always dreamed of writing to fulfill his interest in the horror and suspense world. He spends his free time with his family and has been involved with standard-bred horse racing. He is currently working on his second novel.
