Only Big Show Coming is an amended and greatly enlarged version of articles published in Bandwagon: The Journal of the Circus Historical Society  between 1982 and 1999.  Volume I covers the routes, reviews and incidents surrounding circus and wild west performances in Kansas between 1853 and 1878, and provides an intriguing view of life in the Victorian west.

About the Author

Orin Copple King is a graduate of Washburn University. He is the author of a biography of circus entrepreneur Willie Sells (publ. Shawnee County Historical Society, 1983,) and of numerous articles on the history of the circus which have appeared in Bandwagon: The Journal of the Circus Historical Society, The White Tops, Kanhistique and The Topeka Capital-Journal. He is Trustee Emertus of the Circus Historical Society, member of the Awards Committee for the Circus Hall of Fame, former Regional Director of the Circus Fans of America and former Director of the Shawnee County Historical Society.
