About the Book

Scattershot Haze is poet Ralph Haselmann Jr.´s second book of poetry, and in it he explores America in all its terrible beauty, the violent wasteland it has become and the hope and dreams that still linger in the heart of many a poet and dreamer. Here Ralph pays hommage to the Beat Generation poets, hippies and musicians of the 1950´s and 1960´s he has long admired, and tempers it with social and political awareness and a healthy dose of humour. This collection also includes seven humorous Beat inspired short stories Ralph wrote in his manic state one month! Get ready to expand and enlighten your mind with Ralph as he hallucinates and hitchhikes through history!

"(Your) broadside is awesome!  I almost busted a gut reading it.  Poem For The MTV Generation is cool.  I liked Blues For Janis a lot too... This broadside reminds me of stuff I used to read in high school.  It takes me back to my good old days and makes me happy to be writing.  This is what poetry is all about…"

--Tom Hamrin, poet and Lucid Moon poetry magazine reader

"Watch Ralph follow the Paths of Glory forged by such visionary poets as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and Bob Dylan, as he treks across the vast wilderness of America , sleeping out underneath the stars, in the sweet poem All Those Yesterdays which ends this collection.  Scattershot Haze is the poem that inspired the title.  Ralph says he missed it, The Magic Bus.  They say if you remembered the 1960´s, you weren´t there.  Ralph was too young to be a  Beat poet or a hippie in the 1960´s but he was there in spirit.  This is Ralphy´s second book of poetry in the space of one year.  Ralphy, keep em comin!"
