Carrillee Maitland, an Episcopal priest and incumbent at St. Michael’s Church of Oakdale, finds herself in the middle of a mystery when strange deaths begin to form a pattern that can no longer be ignored. With the help of Nick Pratorius, a half-Gypsy man who has been guarding a secret manuscript for nearly fifteen centuries, Carrillee must try to understand what sort of evil is stalking the streets of her town.

When the battle lines are drawn, somehow “good” and “evil” have found a way to switch places. A demonic figure appears to its victims as the personification of God Incarnate, and the sanctity of the miraculous has been used to kill and destroy. How do you fight an evil which uses the symbols and powers that were supposed to be your only effective weapons? Carrillee and Nick had better find out quickly—because the next Coming won’t be nearly as beneficent as they had hoped.

About the Author

Born under (what else?) Leo, Tristan MacAvery began writing almost before he could speak. He published his first short story in 1977, and after a quarter century he continues to perform this subversive act on a regular basis. His first published novel, a demoniacal horror piece called Divine Intervention, proves that he is far more versatile (read: dangerous) than anyone had ever suspected. Also an actor and director, he has provided scripts and voices for Japanese anime, performed with improvisation troupes, and recorded a number of radio commercials. He is a lifelong romantic and lives, still single, in Houston TX.
