About the Book

A burned-out detective and his young assistant search for a killer after a failed blackmail attempt results in a drug dealer being murdered in a hospital.  The two cops become entangled in a conflict of the spirit of the law verses the letter of the law.  Young womanizing Mike O'Brien is determined to follow the book in bringing a killer to justice while disillusioned Lieutenant Angelo Valarri decided to allow the case to drift out to sea and die through neglect for what he believes is the best way to serve justice.
