About the Book
One More Mess is a detective story with some unlikely detectives. When high school junior, Amanda Hayes, turns up missing, one of her more devoted teachers, a newspaper reporter hungry for headlines, and the girl’s grieving father pursue the truth about her disappearance and, later, her death. The teacher and the reporter join forces in trying to convince the Jacksonville, Illinois chief of detectives that one Trey Cederquist is responsible for Amanda’s tragic end. But as the noose tightens on Cederquist, it falls to another to clean up yet “one more mess.”
About the Author
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, the author spent his formative years in Indiana, before graduating from high school in Teutopolis, Illinois. In 2000, the Jacksonville Friends of the Public Library named Stevens Author-of-the-Year. He is an administrator at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired. The life-long educator is the father of four and stepfather of two. He lives in Jacksonville, Illinois, with his wife Becky. This is his first novel.
