About the Book
No more Brer Rabbit stories? Not true! In Brer Babylon, the great trickster of the South comes out of hibernation and into the 21st century to meet Coyote, the great trickster of the West. Ever wonder what would happen? You can be sure the meeting between the two is suspenseful, comical and unpredictable. Attending an African-American church that incorporates a vestigial ancient African spiritual ritual, Zach Peterson meets Brer Rabbit in a dream-like sequence where Brer Rabbit then materializes in a Native American sweat lodge ceremony out on the Kansas prairie - an unexpected answer to a plea for help from the spirits by Burly Olalla, a mixed Kansa and Kiowa Indian. This is a funny and absorbing trip through America, the great melting pot, which is Brer Babylon, where everyone speaks from the same heart in a different tongue.
