About the Book

"The people are different around here, aren't they guys"?  Making conversation was starting to get hard, but I felt like talking and if I bugged my friends enough I knew that they would come around.

"Yea,  they're different all right.   They are all white"!

Well, I got Simon to talk, but I hadn't counted on the bitterness in his voice. Not really understanding Simon's bitterness or how anybody could hate an entire people they did not even know, I said nothing and fished like a statue, quiet and still.

"Hey, Pete", Adam said softly without raising his head.  "Don't worry about it. OK? It wasn't really all that long ago when your people owned my people.   It will take more time still for them to consider us their equal".

Growing up in Detroit in the 70’s was an ever changing environment for three nine year old boys of different ethnic backgrounds.  Since no one ever taught them otherwise, they honestly felt that they were all the same and equal.

Follow them as their innocence gets destroyed as well as their souls and in some instances their lives.
