About the Author
Charlotte Parkinson has worked in Aging Services for twenty-five years and is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She graduated from Barnard College, earned a Master’s in Social Work at New York University and a Doctorate in Social Welfare at Columbia University. Dr. Parkinson has been on the Board of the Society for the Relief of Women and Children since 1988 and is completing a three year term as president. She is a member of the New York University Alumni Association, has served on the Board of YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities since 1977, and is a past member of the President’s Committee on Mental Retardation. Her particular area of interest is Aging and Disability, especially the impact of social policies on elderly individuals. She lives in New York City with her husband John Parkinson III. They have three children and three grandchildren.
