About the Book

For over 20 years the author has witnessed the marvelous transformation of a number of people from near degenerates to marvels of spiritual and moral maturity through the discipline of the Twelve Steps. He has often wished that church members had such a convenient tool. A former pastor, who shared his insight and who lead his congregation to establish a treatment facility, encouraged him to write a book that would present this possibility to Christians. It has been introduced to several congregations in the developmental stages, and is presented as a proven program of spiritual growth. Members of the various Twelve Step groups may also find it useful either to explore Christianity or to help them integrate their religious and spiritual lives.

About the Author

Raised as a Southern Baptist, ravaged by the terms demanded by life, lost in bitterness, inspired by the Friends, salvaged by the Episcopalians, disciplined by the Twelve Steps and now serving as a minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A), Fred J. Hood has had careers as a Southern Baptist minister, a Professor of History and American Studies and a general contractor building custom homes before turning again to the ministry in the late 1990’s. He has served several churches in Kentucky and is founder of Shepherd’s House, an agency treating addiction in Lexington, Kentucky where he sees the power of the Twelve Steps on a regular basis. Other books: Kentucky, Its History and Heritage, 1978 and Reformed America: The Middle and Southern States 1783-1837, 1980, paperback edition, 2002.
