About the Book
This epic, biographical in nature, depicts life in Boston, Mass., at the very beginning of the 20th century. It deals with the struggle of an illiterate immigrant’s struggle to raise her infant son to become a worthy citizen of her adopted country.
She had come to America to escape poverty and faced, instead, serious illness, deprivation, and unforeseen hardships. She was a most dedicated mother who utilized old-world sayings, customs, proverbs, philosophy, and moral principles to control and guide her son during his formative years.
A must reading for young parents, historians, psychiatrists, and recent immigrants.
Makes very fascinating, interesting, entertaining, and inspirational reading.
About the Author
The author was brought to this country from Italy at the age of two and a half. In elementary school he was a serious and dedicated student but had to struggle to keep up in his work because he could not get any help from his illiterate parents, who could not speak any English. Neither did he have a brother or sister to whom he could turn for help. By sheer determination he was able to acquire a good education by receiving, during his lifetime, three Masters Degrees and a Doctorate Degree. He applied himself so diligently that he became a teacher, school administrator, educational consultant, and finally a lawyer. He well serves as a model for all young people of this generation to emulate. He is living proof that nothing is impossible in these great United States.
