About the Book

In the early dawn, little eight-year-old Alex walks up the steps of an old run-down house she calls home. She hesitates at the kitchen door. Flies are buzzing around the dinner that is still on the table from the night before. A tune of “Patty Cake” moans from the blood-drenched walls and floor. Alex looks down at the gun, she grips in her hand. “Mommy,” she calls out.

Frank has more to lose then the custody of his son, for there’s an evil growing among his family, waiting to bring the Monahans’ to their knees. Someone they thought they knew...a wounded soul without conscience, capable of inflicting cruelty beyond the imagination.

About the Author

Nellie Jean (Roberts) Morgan was born with the power of imagination and curiosity. Nellie contributes her love for literature and writing to four years of English under Mrs. Martha (Bain) Rice at Oneida Baptist Institute, where she graduated in 1963. October 2002, Nellie was diagnosed with terminal cancer. “This was to be my time for writing all the stories that burns within me. For now, I cannot ponder the “what ifs” of the past, nor will I fear the future, as it will only tarnish the moments I have left to be cherished.” At this time, Nellie is working on her second book, “The Call of the Whippoorwills.”
