About the Book
Colonel I.H. “Itch” Young was in the Army Air Corps and then in the United States Air Force from 1940 until 1964. He flew missions all over the world, flying planes such as the C-54 in the Berlin Airlift and B-57 nuclear attack bombers in Korea. He was one of the pilots who trained to drop the first atomic bomb, was personal pilot for General Joe Cannon, (commanding general of U.S. Air Force-Europe and Tactical Air Command) and flew diplomatic missions to Moscow at the height of the Cold War. In a very interesting and personal way, he brushed shoulders with many of the military, government, aviation and civilian leaders who made history during that time. This is an unusual story about an exceptional pilot.
