About the Book

Love, passion and betrayal are all elements of the novel Negotiating for Love. Samantha Alexander is a prominent real estate broker, beautiful, single and successful. When the story begins, she is on her way to receive two awards for her philanthropic and humanitarian endeavors. She is introduced to Dr. Kyle Peterson, a widower, who is sure he has just met his next wife. Although Samantha is interested in him, she puts him off using her busy schedule as an excuse. The truth is, after realizing most men are intimidated by her powerful position, she is reluctant to get involved with anyone. About the same time, Samantha interviews a new sales associate for her real estate office, referred to her by one of the other agents. He is rather flamboyant, but she is impressed by his aggressive attitude. When Gino Williams, a young, arrogant, risk taker, comes on board, things begin to happen. A month later, Samantha is invited to a play by the mutual friends who introduced her to Kyle Peterson. Upon arrival, she discovers Kyle is present, and that the friends are playing matchmaker. At first, she is upset, but stays anyway. After the theatre and dinner, Kyle takes her home and kisses her goodnight. She pulls back. Later, she agrees to have dinner with him. Kyle tells his mother about Samantha. His mother is not pleased, having had a very close relationship with her deceased daughter-in-law. Also, not knowing anything about this new woman, she feels Samantha may be after his money. After the dinner date at Kyle’s house, they began seeing each other on a regular basis, spending Sundays together travelling. She is enjoying this new relationship until he reveals he’s in love with her. She stops returning his phone calls, and begins avoiding him, feeling she is losing control of her life. Finally, after not being able to reach her, he comes to her office. She agrees to see him that night for dinner at his house, where she flirts with him. They make up. Later, Kyle wants Samantha to travel to Atlanta with him. She explains to him why she can’t just leave her business to be with him. He is upset thinking he might be losing her. Kyle is also realizing that Samantha is very different from his dead wife and his mother and that he has to penetrate the brick wall she has built around her if he is to get her to marry him. Slowly, things began taking a turn for the worse, not only in Samantha’s business but also in her relationship with Kyle. At the office, Samantha is conducting training sessions for her new agents. Gino is not only soaking up the information, but is quickly becoming obsessed with Samantha. In the meetings, Gino’s mind wanders off, visualizing intimate scenes with the lady broker. Unknowing, she takes him under her wing, teaches him everything she knows about the business. Linda Williams, Gino’s wife, feels that being in real estate is the best move her husband has made. He is a top producer at the office and is about to become manager at the new office Samantha plans to open. Samantha’s older manager is not impressed with Gino and doesn’t trust him, feels he is just a con man. Gino begins having an affair with the wife of a friend of his, after they meet at the office picnic. He begins flaunting his success as a realtor by having parties in his secret penthouse apartment. Meantime, Linda misses him being home, looks to her mother for sympathy, but gets none. Kyle’s mother finally meets Samantha on Thanksgiving Day. She doesn’t like her and begins a campaign to get her out of her son’s life by introducing him to someone else. Kyle talks Samantha into spending New Year’s eve in Las Vegas, where he surprises her by proposing. She is upset. She feels he has planned this just to get her to marry him. Meanwhile, under Gino’s management, the new office flourishes, but Samantha’s other manager warns her of the rumors circulating regarding unscrupulous real estate deals and other il
