About the Book
Ken Hutchins had it all. He was handsome, had extraordinary brain power and was the most decorated Narcotics detective in the San Diego police force. When his best friend was killed in a botched drug raid, an overwrought Ken decided to do something about the scourge of drugs and the suspected corruption which accompanied the illicit drug business. His one-man war on drugs was ingenious, unique and deadly effective. Why hadn’t anyone else thought of this?
His partner of six months, Eleanor Frank, was also highly regarded. Pretty and talkative, she harbored a secret crush on Ken. Her main objective was to rise through the ranks in the police department so she toed the line of professionalism and proper procedure an buried her desires.
Ken and Ellie were assigned to a non-productive surveillance which Ken interpreted as a way to shut down their record number of arrests. Despite being constrained, Ken engineered a brilliant takedown of one of the largest suppliers along with his money launderers. The Chief of Police attempting to capitalize on the good press sent Ken and Ellie to a Rotary Club award ceremony for their outstanding work. Ken never attended such functions and always avoided publicity so Ellie represented both of them. Also present was a beautiful and brilliant businesswoman, Lenore Chang, who presented the police department with a large parcel of land to be used for youth recreation. Ellie and Lenore strike up a friendship, which was to have a momentous impact on the three lives.
Ken’s distinctive brand of revenge had ruinous effects on the drug trade, politicians, the police force and on the unsuspecting public. The police were baffled. The drug lords were angry and puzzled. The plan was perfect except for one thing: many innocent people were also dying.
The Blue Star brand of cocaine seemed to ride above the devastation. Was there an equally brilliant drug dealer involved in the scheme?
The story takes us from the barrio in Tijuana, through San Diego to the one of the wealthiest enclaves in America, Rancho Santa Fe as the lives of three people interact and attempt to overcome their previously damaged lives.
