About the Book

From a Mexican land grant ranch in the hills of the San Gabriel Mountains to an ocean jewel on the la Jolla shores, to Buffalo roaming on a land grant in Irvine...The mustard seed begins to grow..but what of the men from afar and the small box? In the beginning a company with no money reserves, newly incorporated as a nonprofit company negotiated the purchase of 18 1/2 acres of precious Charles Hopper Ranch land in the California foothills and turned around the next day to negotiate the purchase of a multi-million dollar beach front hotel to remodel homes for old folks with a mere $25,ooo from a friend. A historical love story, of people who love people and the trust built throughout history into the name “Presbyterian”. The “Change of Pace” is the storied history of the company Southern California Presbyterian Homes.

About the Author

The author celebrated her naked birth debut on the ground during the “roaring twenties” slipping out on Mama’s shawl in the cornfield on the Omaha Indian Reservation in Nebraska. Barefoot and bib-overalled she tomboyed her way on horseback into a one room country school. She started her writing career in the 4th grade writing her first story “My Blue Cow”. Along side career work as a teacher, and business woman, she co-authored a series of nutrition books with her friend Dr. Margaret McWilliams, Ph.D. raised a family, and has traveled the world. She now makes her home at Regent’s Point in Calfornia where she lives, works and plays.
