About the Book

The fingers of night have released the sunrise. Harry is unable to recall his past. His memory is shrouded in a gray area that is frightening. He only knows that he must survive in a hostile climate, surrounded by people who are attempting to destroy him. What if you were kidnapped from a hotel in Kyoto, Japan, and taken to one of 1,600 monasteries against your will? You are a prisoner. What could they possibly want from a Seaman in the U.S. Navy who is on R&R? Why, you’re the guy with a meaningless job of a courier and yet you are being forced to endure torture and mayhem! What if you were beaten and tossed into a dungeon in the bowels of a centuries old monastery? Could you survive the freezing cold of Japan and Korea using only your wits and resourcefulness? Harry Lipp does. He is only a swab jockey with very little experience in the ways of war, but he fights his way past peril that most men can only imagine. Harry’s plight becomes more intense as the chapters flow and the situations he encounters become more complicated, complex and dangerous. His amazing strength and ingenuity are constantly challenged. This sailor’s ability to cope with the unimaginable will amaze you. The last chapter of this yarn has a twist that will jolt and burn comprehension. There are moments during his duress where, as Harry describes it, The little head is always telling the big head what to do! Not For My Eyes moves along at a good clip, is written concisely, and is refreshingly politically incorrect. Best Regards, Bob Gordon
