About the Author

Helen A. Horowitz came to the United States at age seven. She lived in a small town in Pennsylvania until her senior year in high school. Upon arriving in New York, she struggled to obtain employment during the height of the Great Depression. She worked full-time and fulfilled her ambition of obtaining a college degree by attending evening sessions. She had many careers during her lifetime. Observance of Orthodox Judaism was the mainstay in her life. After reaching the age of eighty-three, she decided to write her autobiography describing how life was during her times.
