About the Author

Mariah Cyphers was born and raised on a farm in rural Minnesota, where she lives with her parents and younger brother. She enjoys horseback riding, particularly competing in barrel races and any other event involving speed. She has been riding and training her own horses since she was seven. In spite of her love for rodeo and western culture, her writing style leans toward medieval fantasy. Mariah has always liked to write stories, beginning when she was very young when she would create short stories about horses or other animals to go along with her drawings. She became hooked on fantasy when she discovered the Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings at a young age. Although she has been writing for many years now, Rising Star is the first story she has attempted publishing. Mariah enjoys working on the farm and spending time with family and friends, and hopes to improve on both her barrel racing and writing endeavors as time goes on.
