About the Book

In 1943, Luftwaffe Colonel Willi Kessel manages to be sent to a German POW camp in Arizona for a SPECIFIC ESCAPE MISSION and during his desperate trek across the Sonora desert he’s chased by a British Intelligence agent, an American OSS colonel, a double-crossed Mexican Nazi sympathizer, a grizzly career U.S. Army sergeant and a small town sheriff.  All of the German’s pursuers have scores to settles with him but SHERIFF DUTCH TYREE’S is infinitely more personal.  LOST LOVE, fierce storms and death ride with them as they clash with pure evil and deal with their own dark sides on the way to George Patton’s tank training range in the devastating desert heat.

Al Compton is the author of the self-help book REAL MAN and novels ONCE UPON A TIME, IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, FAT BOYS and JOE DODGE. His screenplay for CARVE THE IVORY received the Academy of Motion Pictures Sciences Nicholl Foundation Award for the western regional U.S.
