About the Book
Jesse Mulholland, a free lance photojournalist from New York City, sets out to interview Ray Parker, a wealthy river man who supposedly got his start back in the great depression with a leaky john boat.
Her probing interview takes us back to Ray’s youth in the 1930’s when the river first cast its magic spell on him and “Pickle”— his best friend. It binds together a series of episodes detailing the hairbrained adventures of two young boys and their stoney path to manhood.
You will find romance, adventure, and even a few tears in this gripping tale of life on the Ohio River.
About the Author
Mr. Lloyd started writing seriously after being forced into early retirement. He has had several poems and short stories in both regional and national publications. “Once Upon An Onion Sandwich” is his first book, but a second book “Return to Burma” is planned in the future.. Due to his varied employment history, some of which includes plumber’s helper, police officer and airplane pilot, he maintains (with tongue in cheek) that he holds a liberal arts master’s degree in life’s experience. Mr. Lloyd, believes he’s one of the lucky ones; he was born and raised, lived and loved—these many years—in the beautiful Ohio River Valley.
