This autobiography portrays the exciting times and life of the author during his childhood, World War II service, and his diverse career experiences. Interesting observations and photographs about business, communities and friendships, and Guy C. Throner’s personal and family history are shared. The story begins with life as experienced by a young man in the 1920’s and 1930’s, and progresses through his World War II bomb disposal assignments, and his ordnance engineering vocation including development of safety devices and munitions for the U.S. military and space programs. A historical account of personal growth, interests, accomplishments and family are historically documented.
About the Author
Guy C. Throner, born in 1919, grew up in Oberlin, Ohio where he graduated from Oberlin College. He entered World War II as a bomb disposal officer serving in southern France. He became an expert in shape charges used for military and space programs, including the atomic bomb. He worked for diverse defense, industrial, and research enterprises. A man of many ideas, he has over 100 patents. Married for 68 years and now widowed, he is in his 90’s and witnessed the changing 20th century through his eyes and those of his parents, wife, three children and his friends.
