About the Book

Time Echo presents two college professors living in New Paltz, New York in 1968.  Both experienced service in the Korean War as nineteen year olds and met at an anti-Vietnam War rally in 1967.  Ed Matthews and Jake Schweyer analyze the politics of the ‘Cold War’ and exchange views on the presidential politics of 1968.  Initially, Ed has a penchant for loving and leaving women as a consequence of an unfaithful wife.  Jake has only recently gotten over the loss of his fiancée, Pat, to ovarian cancer.

Serving on a special committee, charged with evaluating  ‘Black Studies’ course proposals, Jake becomes romantically involved with its chairperson, Dr. Veronica Henderson, the first black faculty member at his college.  A specific reality of 1967 casts an ominous shadow over their torrid romance.  However, 1969 offers the possibility that they will respectively find future happiness.
