About the Author

Laurél Silverberg is a Cordon Bleu´ trained chef and spent many years employed in some of the top restaurants of Southern California. Drawn to baking, she left the food and restaurant industry and concentrated on her true passions: baking, cake decorating and crafting. Mystified when a friend gave her a set of rubber stamps, she tried using them with the medium she knew well: fondant. Trial and error led her to patent her process and the food dyes with which she now stamps. She also started a stamp business manufacturing rubber that is unique in the food industry. An endlessly talented woman, Laurél is a true crafter at heart. This is evident in the projects chosen for this book. Laurél has made guest appearances on The Carol Duvall Show and The Rosie O’Donnell Show demonstrating her cookies, candies and various other craft projects. She is a very popular demonstrator with the International Cake Exploration Societe´ often teaching to standing room only classes. Her video Sweet Stampen’s Cookie and Candy Video is available in rubber stamp and cake decorating stores and from sweetstampen.com Laurél is married to Jeff Silverberg and has two grown children, Ricky Dean and Heather Silverberg. She and Jeff live in the Phoenix area. Holly Dare grew up crafting in Mississippi. Her first job was teaching crafts to kids in the McComb Mini Parks. She has been a commercial and television producer working in Hollywood for seventeen years. But writing and crafting were her primary passions and she thought she had died and gone to heaven when she was hired to write and produce for the Queen of Crafts, Carol Duvall. While scouting a craft trade show for potential guests, Holly first met Laurél Silverberg. When Holly started her own public relations company, P.R. by Design, in 2001 to help smaller craft companies with marketing strategy, Laurél became one of her first clients. Holly has written about Laurél’s technique of stamping on candy and cookies for The Rubber Stamper and The Foothill Sentinel. Her articles have also appeared in Somerset Studio. She currently serves as the web goddess for sweetstampen.com
