There's nothing outside my door in that world I want to see That I want to be That world I really don't know

About the Author
Janaan C. Mitchell was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT. She began writing after a tragic burn accident at the age of 8. Yet the poet in her had not fully developed until she attended Roosevelt Elementary School in the city's south end. Here she met her fourth and fifth grade teacher, who taught on Shakespeare, Poe, Maya Angelou, and the timeless language of Latin. It was the courage of their words, their lives, and the beauty of their passion that sparked a flicker inside her. It was the mystery and history of the language that intrigued her. As she learned and listened she realized the pain and tragedy of her own world and inner turmoil had its own beauty. Though life has had its ups and downs, she has always managed to turn it all into the beauty beheld in her eyes. As a teenager the writing became easier as the road got harder and obstacles in the form of relationships, stress, self-esteem, and finding a place in her environment tried to deter her. She wrote on nevertheless. Always wanting to publish one day, she decided that maybe her life can be the light someone else may need to find their through whatever seems to be darkening their days. Now a mother of 4 boys and 1 girl she continues to write as life goes on, while being a LPN, and an entrepreneur. With all that life has to offer there is sure to be further books in the future. She is currently working on the second and third books of her trilogy to be published in upcoming months.
