It's Fun to Read

About the Book

During twenty-six years of teaching Elementary School Children, in all grades from one to six, the author was repeatedly reminded that learning how to READ, was of most importance. Without the ability to read, children find it extremely difficult to learn any other subjects. It was very sad to see those children who were unable to read, become more bewildered as they entered the higher grades. Many often felt that they could never learn, and just gave up.

On several occasions, the author was asked to teach classes composed entirely of chidren who had fallen behind in reading, one, two, three, or even four years. She had to devise methods that would teach these children to read.

A totally new program was created, using pictures to teach the sounds of all the letters of the alphabet. It worked successfully in several different schools, using different publisher’s books. It can be used in all the grades, at different levels.

The children liked the program. Most of them made very good progress. The reward for the teacher was in seeing the looks of surprise and happiness, on the children’s faces, when they realized that they could read. Children, parents, and teachers were further pleased when the children upon entering higher grades were able to read the information in the other subjects.

Before the author retired, it was suggested that she put this program into book form, so that teachers, parents, and others, can help many more children.

This is the book. It is dedicated to all the children who will learn that IT’S FUN to READ.
