About the Author

Born in 1922, William D. Reyburn discovered at a tender age that he had a love affair with language, a passion that was to propel him eventually into a world of languages and cultures, and not a few revolutions, on six continents. His experiences in World War II in the Pacific and Japan led him to the study of linguistics, anthropology and biblical studies. He is the author or coauthor of eight books dealing with missions and Bible translations. From 1952 to 1997 he served the United Bible Societies as a translations consultant. He is married to Marie Fetzer, with whom he has four adult children and eight grandchildren
