About the Author
My name is Marshia Brown, I was born on March 6, 1981 in Richmond, Virginia to the parents of Marshia Harris and Horace Brown. I’ve had a very tough life, I was taken from my mom at the age of eight, before which at the age of seven I was molested. After being taken from my mother, I was placed with my grandparents. At the age of ten I started taking care of my grandmother, although I was happy to take of her, it was kind of confining. In 1999, I graduated from George Wythe High School. Then at the age of twenty I tried to commit suicide. When I finally thought my life was going okay god dealt me another blow, when I lost my best friend, my grandmother, on December 3, 2006. After my bad experiences I decided to put all my energy into writing my poetry, hoping someone out there can relate to all my struggles. As if life wasn’t hard enough, I recently lost the love of my life, but with all these bad things, I know I will come out on the other side a stronger, and more endearing person.
