About the Book
Good day to all; my name is Jack Safarick Jr., yet I have been known both here in the States and abroad as Oily Jack. I earned that handle honestly after working for thirty years in the oilfield and that many years riding leaky old motorcycles. I grew up with the arts and started writing poetry over twenty years ago, after I was inspired by the passion of something I truly enjoyed doing. I trust that my words may bring some enjoyment to others . . . Kind regards, Oily Jack Safarick Jr
About the Author
Jack Safarick Jr was born August 27th, 1957 in Ganado Texas to Jack and Dixie Jane Safarick. His parents moved to Austin Texas where he was raised along with three younger brothers. He grew up in an artistic community, as his father is a country and western musician that went by the stage name of Jack Hill. Jack Jr earned the handle Oily Jack after spending thirty years in the oil fi elds and many years riding leaky old Harley's all over the country. When he wasn't able to ride Harley's, he would write poetry about the open road. He was driven by his passion for the wind in his face, and his love of travel. That led him to writing for others he loved and cared about on different occasions in their life. After having a near death accident that left him disabled, He started studying and practicing Buddhism. He has traveled the world and seen many things in many different places but found peace in the words of the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin, a 12th century Buddhist. "Oily Jack" lives in South Austin and is still a vibrant part of Austin's eclectic and much loved music scene and artistic community.
