About the Author
I taught science K-12 during my 30 year career in Sag Harbor N.Y. During that time, I would write poems about the scientists that were connected to the various units of study, to help students remember what each one was noted for. During, and following my teaching years, I also (along with my wife), owned and operated an educational toy store in East Hampton, N.Y. (Village Toy Shop and Gifted Generation) and ROBOtech in Amagansett, N.Y., where I taught Lego Mindstorms Robotics. After a few years of retirement (from teaching), I decided to compile the poems into this presentation. The cover features Galileo, known as "The Father of Modern Science". Besides being a scientist, Galileo was also a poet and theater critic, who along with other "Renaissance Scientists" were involved in the Arts. Currently I am a member of the East Hampton School Board, advocating for STEM to STEAM* education. *Infusing the Arts into - Science Technology Engineering Math - STEAM. The future depends upon our ability to fuse creativity back into education.
