About the Book

This how-to book with a how-not-to title, will save you money when you buy a house. The writers are self-described "houseaholics." In Seattle they bought five, in Arizona, three. Other deals fell through when the builder wanted to put their money into his bank account instead of escrow, when a house flunked the termite inspection and when the builder simply refunded their money without explanation. They learned a lot. The hard way! Now they want you to learn a lot the easy way. Don't make a move before you read HOW NOT TO BUY A HOUSE IN ARIZONA AND OTHER ATROCITIES.

About the Author

In 1989 a business feature called David Stern "the guy who invented the smile button---and then forgot to copyright it." In 1967 he created an ad campaign featuring a happy face. Neither he, nor his client, trademarked the icon. After 30 years in advertising, Stern ran for mayor of Seattle, then moved to Scottsdale, AZ to write books. "I've written a dozen and hope to get them published before I die," he says. "Having lived in 18 houses in 64 years, you can take my advice on house buying to the bank."
