About the Author

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Eleanor Hempel Pratt, Ph. D.: Educator; TV personality; Lecturer and Nutritional Consultant. She is the winner of 25 major awards including the Emmy, LA Times Woman of the Year, and was knighted in Italy with the title of “Lady”. Dr. Pratt, who resides in San Diego, taught in the California public schools and was a pioneer teacher using Tachistoscopic training in the first grade. Her work with children’s visual patterns was circulated throughout the U.S.A. She taught a session in the School of Euthenics at Vassar College and has been in demand as a lecturer. She conducted several Adult Education series, which were approved for Teacher Institute credits. Her three annual talks to the Claremont Reading Conference were published in their Year Books. She holds a life membership in the California Congress of Parents and Teachers and is listed in “Who’s Who of American Women”. As a television educator, she and her TV show of which she was the creator and performer, “LITTLE SCHOOLHOUSE” received national recognition and over twenty-five major awards including: the national and coveted Sylvania Award as the “Finest Children’s Show” (by unanimous vote); Academy of Television Arts and Sciences “Emmy” as “Best Children’s Program” and seven Academy nominations for “Best Children’s Program” and “Outstanding Female Personality”; the Los Angeles 10th District P.T.A. award (first ever given): plus awards from the Children of American Revolution for “Patriotism”.
