About the Book
A child with an active imagination and a vague sense that things aren’t as they should be, goes through life with only one foot in reality – ready to withdraw it if people and events get too scary. As an adult, his ability to withdraw both feet allows him to rebound from sorrow, to recover from a life-threatening infection, and to see himself as a survivor. These highly personal short stories are stories that many people will recognize as their own.
