About the Book
After brooding for a year over a broken Viennese love affair, Walter Kempf, a respected research analyst, is nefariously discredited by a coworker. To keep his job he completes a 12-Step treatment program in a remote Central Arizona desert locale, during which he deconstructs the program, formulates a different solution to his problem, loses his job, and falls in love again.
About the Author
Born in Joliet, Illinois, Frederick L. Whitney lived there twenty years before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1950. After his assignment in special weapons, he was reassigned to Germany, where he supervised base training and wrote for the base newspaper. After honorable discharge, he earned B.S.Ed. and M.S.Ed. degrees and taught physics and mathematics for fifteen years. During the following years, he completed an Ed.D., spe-cializing in quantitative and qualitative methods. His participation in 12-step treatment programs and recent travels in Germany and Austria inspired his first novel Walter’s Way (2003) and the sequel Walter's Wager (2005).
