About the Book
In his “Footprints...A compendium of musings, thoughts, and values.” Assad Sabga reveals his thoughts on many different aspects of life. In doing so, his thoughts and views manifest the works of many great scholars and writers who undoubtedly inspired him. During his life he has constantly reviewed and revised his thoughts and personal philosophy if only as a result of personal growth but, more often than not, in response to different experiences he encountered. He took literally to heart the basic statement of Socrates: “The unexamined life is not worth living,” and was constantly thinking about life and examining and comparing his own.
At fifty three years of age he sought to simplify and consolidate all of the complex thoughts that has disseminated through his mind ever since his college days, and wanting to leave “footprints” so that his children may either follow in his way, or, having chosen their own path they might have the knowledge, guidance and companionship of what he truly believed. He then decided to write a summary of these thoughts and values, more as a compass for his children and their children than for any other reason.
On review, he soon found out that as hard as he tried, not one thought of his was original or unique. Wherever he ventured in his thoughts he found that someone had been there before him and he was merely repeating what he had read or learned about somewhere before and more often than not that person had expressed the idea much better than he ever could. He however makes no apologies for that nor does he attempt to take credit for it, but instead, views it as a tribute to these great men who have influenced his life so much.
