About the Book

“Invites us to respond to the biblical call to pray without ceasing. …To pray according to his Psalter is to be healed, is to bind up the brokenness of our lives.”

--MELANIE A. MAY

editor of Women and Church: The Challenge of Ecumenical Solidarity in an Age of Alienation.

“Rienstra’s book exceeds the promise of its subtitle. Through her sustained ‘re-praying’ of the biblical text, we meet God afresh, in ways that will give light to those who love the Psalms, and hope to those who doubt their relevance…The four-week cycle with different themes for each day of the week, the prayers and meditations from women of Christian antiquity, and classic hymns and prayers are rich resources, well integrated. I should like to pray through this book.”

--BRIAN WREN

author of What Language Shall I Borrow?

“An empowering book that may help women who have felt estranged from God and alienated by patriarchal approaches to Scripture to once again find comfort, peace, and vitality through daily devotional exercises.”

--LETHA DAWSON SCANZONI

coauthor of All We’re Meant to Be: Biblical Feminism for Today.

About the Author

Marchiene Vroon Rienstra I love journeys! I was born during my parents' journey from America to India. Ever since, I have journeyed to far away places. These marvelous journeys have shaped my life as I have searched for Wisdom, Beauty, and Who I really am. I have discovered that the journey and the search are life itself, and that every destination leads to another. Karla Van Huysen Karla currently lives in Telluride, Colorado with the love of her life, Shemryn, and her cat Hemmingway. She is also an Art Therapist with children, after attending Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. She does not have formal training in Art, and did not begin making art she was twenty-one years old, and living in Aberdeen, Scotland. One morning she visited a castle so magnificent, that it demanded she drop whatever she was doing, and simply sit down and sketch it. She has been drawing and painting ever since.
