About the Book

The Rose Bush is a gentle story of two lonely people and how they met and change one another’s lives. Miss Hackett, a spinster, has a rose bush that is the challenge of her existence, and though she lavishes all of her attention on it, it will not bloom. Emma, a neighbor child, wanders into the garden and invades Miss Hackett’s life, making her into the companion and playmate that is so needed. By the end of the summer many changes take place.
