About the Author

Descended from the Florida Cracker pioneering families of John and Irma Boyd and Raymond and Irene Skeen, I’m a proud native Tarponite. Given half a chance, I’ll tell anyone willing to listen just what that means to me. Wife, mother, grandmother, I’ve worked in a variety of administrative jobs, as Louis and Bobi and I moved from Tarpon Springs to Tampa to Ocala. While living in Ocala, I enrolled in a journalism program at Central Florida Community College. The thread of a book plot about the early Greek sponge divers began to take shape. I desperately wanted to write a book. It had to be good. It had to be special. After several failed attempts to get the story flowing, I relaxed, sat at my typewriter and told myself a story. The manuscript grew; became more complicated. There was no point in trying to stick to an outline. The book began to write itself. Two years of research, writing and rewriting resulted in “A Watch For Evil.” Disguised as a sensory-pleasing novel. In actuality my book is a Florida history lesson.
