Sometimes our lives can change in an instant.  Freds did, and so did everyone that came into close contact with him as well.

He found himself completely alone for over three months as he learned how to cope with the hardships of his New World.  Just as he was getting settled into his new life, Eli burst onto the scene, filled with the exuberance of youth.

The love that blossomed was spoiled by the heartache that brought it crashing down around them.

Set along the Salt River east of Phoenix, this two part tale of  love, toil and bitter disappointment will keep you guessing until the last sentence.

About the Author

Born during the “Great Depression” we moved around a lot until I entered high school. Because we lived in the country I had to use my own imagination, like pretending I was “Jungle Jim” while playing in a 80 acre field of Hemp (marijuana). No I never smoked any of it, for it was grown to replenish the nitrogen in the soil, and was plowed under. I have raised or helped raise 8 children which have all made their late mother and me proud of each and everyone of them. I have at last count 31 grand children, which also make me feel blessed. I have tried to capture a slice of real life along with my flight of “fancy” which I hope all that read it will find enjoyable.
