About the Book

This story is set in a magical place in California called Lake Arrowhead.  The old Alpine Village has long since burnt down and been replaced by modern concrete buildings.  The tall pine trees still sigh in the breeze and smell as sweet as they once did, and the lake still ripples in the late afternoon sunshine, but it's not the same anymore.  It was a time in America between the end of World War II and the Korean mess when life was so special, so sweet, so relatively free from fear and anxiety.

A boy named Ben Killigan lived with his mother in a small apartment and a man named Charley Keene lived on the north shore in a mansion with his wife.  Both frustrated detectives, they form their own company to investigate a mysterious death. It isn't long before other people in the small, tight knit community become involved with the adventures of Keene & Killigan.
