The Key Is West

About the Book

During a plane change, computer whiz Charla Palmer reads a disturbing message from her boss: "Return to L.A. at once." Ever the mutineer, and already in Saint Louis, Charla continues to Key West, eager to enjoy her assignment there, to hacker-proof a system at a firm suffering from computer crashes.

By phone, she learns of a glitch. Her home office computer has been electronically invaded and files containing Charla's itinerary scanned. Charla scoffs at her boss's concern and stays.

The following morning, Charla trips over the corpse of a murdered employee, a knife buried in his chest.

Charla finds an intrusion in the company computer which is an encrypted program. She puts in tracers. There are constant crashes of the company computer system.

Disruptive orders cause several government computers to go berserk. Agents of the government arrive in Key West.

Charla goes to a boat in the harbor to live as she is being hassled by followers. The people following her seem to be connected to the US Government.

     Soon another woman, mistaken for Charla, is found dead on

the boat.

     Charla and a friend go for a cruise, and their boat is disabled in an attempt on their lives. They are unable to use the rudder, the radio, or the motor. It is nearly tragic.

About the Author

Milo Anthony is a writer who switched from science fiction to Mystery. He has written a number of short stories and novellas for the mystery web page: Mystery Corner. Most of these stories are interactive, that is the reader could partake of the excitement by directing the actions of the detective. Mr. Anthony lives in northern California, with a wife, son and three daughters. He enjoys the hobby of building and flying experimental aircraft. His former occupation as aerospace engineer, involved working with Satellite design and maintenance. He still maintains a consulting position, but spends most of his time writing.
