About the Book
A civilian at heart, Dario has a difficult time adjusting to Navy rules, especially when Marines enforce them. He is disciplined before senior officers so often, he makes a study of the mountains displayed on their desk name plaques. He is constantly on the brink of being washed out of the flight program, or worse, although he flies very well. And, as if there were not enough risks for him with military regulations, Marines, and flying, he meets Michelle Duquesne, a rich, spoiled, Scarlett O’Hara clone, with whom he falls in love.
“Disrespectfully funny!”
Captain Walter “Wally” Schirra, Jr., USN (Ret.) Original Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronaut
“The airplanes had round engines in the front, tail wheels in the back, and balls in the middle.”
Captain Richard “Zeke” Cormier, USN (Ret.)WW II Ace and early Blue Angel leader.
"LOW AND SLOW/ is about airplanes and airmen and the culture of flying. I loved every page! Butch Bucciarelli has obvious great fun telling it like it was and always will be in the world of Naval Aviation. I highly recommend it." Col Tom Wilson, USAF (Ret). Author of TERMITE HILL.
"...fast-moving, well written. The book is fun to read, and Bucciarelli captures the flavor of Pensacola and Corpus (Christi)." THE HOOK, The Tailhook Association´s Journal of Naval Aviation.

The author entered the new Aviation Officer Candidate Program in 1956 and flew the T-34, T-28, and the SNJ in Basic, and the AD-4 in Advance. In a fleet squadron, he flew four models of the AD-5. Leaving active duty in 1960, he worked for an insurance firm and spent seven years in Europe. He returned to Santa Barbara in 1973, got an ATP rating, and entered corporate aviation sales.
